Blastoff Event Fortnite!!!

Saturday June 30th So for those of you who aren’t avid players of fortnite or for those who were sleeping when the event happened, here is a quick rundown of what happened this morning. Rocket launched from the  Villan's base near Snobby It's first stage thruster broke off and landed in Anarchy Acres The rocket started to target Tilted and sped up it's decent. As it was about to hit it broke through and disappeared into what i can describe as a different dimension. It reappeared over Moisty and flew in a semi circle around the map before disappearing again into the different dimension. It reappeared again at loot lake and shot straight into the sky leaving a crack between the two dimensions. And now we have a crack in the sky now which resembles the crack from dr.who or futurama,  What this means going forward we will have to wait and see. All we know for sure at this time is that Tilted Towers is absolutely indestructible via space ordnance. Sign

Pokemon Let's Go Eevee/Pikachu get integration with PokemonGo, YAY

The Pokemon Company just released a bunch of info on the integration between Pokemon Go and the upcoming Let's Go Eevee/ Pikachu titles on the Nintendo Switch news boards and on YouTube today. The great footage which was released gave some clearer idea of the game mechanics, as well as confirmed the titles which had been rumored and leaked in the past few weeks. If you haven't had the chance to check out the video please take a moment to have a look if you hold any interest in Pokemon Go or the new franchise for the Switch, or .....in both, which this Balloonicorn falls right in the center of <3. Announcement Video Here  posted Apparently 20 hrs ago as of writing (pre-edits) Now as a semi-avid (quiet Azzy) Pokemon Go player I keep up on all the latest raids and event Pokemon that come out to my region and online.  Within the trailer there is footage showing the interaction of transferring a Pokemon from Go to your Switch and then playing with it, but what benefits

Streaming Online - What an adventure, and the best gear I've found

As I always start out these posts, It's difficult to know where to start out with all of this information, So lets start with some shameless self promotion.  Join me on our weekly streams on wednesday's at  Helium Gaming  on Twitch. My Mobile streaming rig, sans laptop So It all started with me and Azztaroth sitting around playing our nintendo switches and being our normal friendly/sarcastic banter, and thought it might be fun to do this online and make a show out of it as we already do this with our friends, just no camera.  So why the hell not. Went out and picked up a Elgato hd60 unit ( Description/ Specs there of ) With the capabilities of recording 60fps 1080p, it is more than enough to capture the 720p / 30 fps most multiplayer online games use on the nintendo switch, that and because i don't have the highest spec computer atm, so going to have to work with what i have. That and with the program obs ( Open Broadcast Studio ) was able to get the interf

Parital Teardown / Repair of Sony MDR-XB650BT

Welcome to another edition of I broke something, SO LETS FIX IT. While on my daily adventures I had the misfortune of my headphones falling from my head and hitting the ground, the result of thus is the controller board for the headphones became loose due to a small piece of plastic breaking free, which technically meant that the controls didn't work and charging wasn't functioning. So like any good tinkerer would do......it sat on my workbench for 3 months and then i eventually got to it during coffee time one morning this week. So the teardown was actually fairly simple, the first step was to gently pull at the edge of the earcuff where it is glued to the headphones, when you see the ring of adhesive take a flat head screw driver being careful not to tear it, and pulling up the whole ring revealing the initial 3 screw holes. ( as shown in the below picture. Screw holes are revealed after the earcuff is gently removed from headphones. First take out the three

Splatfest time again March edition

For those of you on this blog that are not aware I am a huge fan of nintendos thirdperson shooter, SPLATOON2 (and splatoon 1 but right now I don't own a wiiu, stuck with #2) Mentioned earlier this week, there will be holding another monthly splatfest tournament going on. This months topic of debate is "Which came first,  the chicken or the egg?"  With players able to choose which side of the argument they're on, and fight for  their appropriate side.  The Splatfest will take place: 3/9 (Fri) 8:00 p.m. PT – 3/10 (Sat) 8:00 p.m. PT  For those who have never taken part in a splatfest, it is a turf war style battle, with the normal two battle fields rotating plus the mysterious shifty station map. Overall rankings are done via most single join battles joined, most team battles (pre arranged team battles, not to be confused with normal match making)  and the popularity vote of which team got choose the most. Different ranks are earned depending on how

My Every Day Carry/ Ar Gaming kit

Well as the title of the posts hints at, this is a breakdown of my everyday gear that i have with me and use almost daily, if not for making these blog posts, other fascets of social media.  So without further ado, THE STUFFS Okay I know it looks like a lot of stuff, BUT, you gotta remember, I'm a magical, inflatable, technologist.  So as such I must be prepared at all times for whatever comes up, which usually ends up with me playing tech support or helping out at the local conventions. Either way a here we go: Starting with #1 - Acer Chromebook Cb3-111-C4GD Looking under the hood we find the following specs CPU: 2.16GHz Intel Celeron N2840 (dual-core, 1MB cache, up to 2.58GHz with turboboost) Graphics: Intel HD Graphics RAM: 2GB DDR3L SDRAM Screen: 11.6-inch, 1,366 x 768 HD IPS LED Storage: 16GB SSD Ports: 1 x USB 3.0 ports, 1 x USB 2.0, HDMI, SD card reader, headphone jack Connectivity: Intel 802.11ac; Bluetooth 4.0 Camera: 720p webcam Weight: 2.4 pounds (

PirateBox for portable public library/ or other offline resource sharing for AR games

For those who are unaware what a pirate box is, it is a...  " DIY anonymous offline file-sharing and communications system built with free software and inexpensive off-the-shelf hardware."   These little repurposed routers are lightweight systems which make a wifi network in their vecinity and offer web services such as chat and access to files / leaving files.  They can be left as a deaddrop in which they stay at a location and anyone in the area has access to them, Or there are ones people keep in their bag and are only available when they are near. They are a very unique diverge in the cloud based thinking that usually follows this day and age, Instead of trying to keep everything syncing and updated all the time, these ones are updated manually by the users and as such a more personal content and localized experience. The default setup leaves you with a pocket router with a usb stick coming out the side (i usually suggest 16-32gb at least if you're wanting

Google Home

So the Google home, (before you ask about the mini, I don't have one of those yet, I got one of the full size ones) One of my favorite christmas presents and the most fun wireless speaker I have had In a very long time, and can honestly say I use everyday.  From adding calendar events to setting alarms to just listening to music, it fits into the niche of tech that i am into, ( that being minimal design, but extensible usability). It does have it's pitfalls, such as intermittently not being able to hear pitch properly, Thus not being able to authenticate the user properly, which given the alternative, I would rather be locked out than my data accessed by just anyone wandering in my room.  That problem can be minimized by using different pitches and or inflections in your voice when setting up the initial "Hey google, Okay Google....." (Trust me you'll be tired of setting it up to when you change out phones like me, story for another day) But All things In t

Smart Switches and fun adventures in bioscience.

So where to begin with all this, fell a little off track on my planning to get out some posts more regularly, but you know what they say, sometimes it's what you get out. Carrying on, In what has been added lately to my ever growing smart home (that's wired from the 1900's (see wikipedia knob and tube wiring if you want to know  what i mean) I added a Wemo smart light switch to my room.  There were a few complications, mainly that it is setup for newer wiring schemes that are to modern code (aka 4 wire and a neutral as aposed to my 2 wire and a neutral >.>) But that being said and that I am a resourceful balloonicorn, I managed to find some posts ( note to add referene links) and managed to get it working. ie power incoming (black) to source of power, white to second black from the switch (aka power incoming and outgoing from light, then the green and white from the switch go under the grounding screw with the neutral and bam. OF COURSE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HAD THE
